Texas Business Women works hard to ensure equal rights and pay for all women. Over the course of Teas Business Women's history, our members have been part of several successful advocacy campaigns including the Texas Equal Legal Rights Amendment and as early as 1919, Texas Business & Professional Women (TBW's former name) members urged the opening of all civil service exams to women as well as men and supported extending the merit system in government employment to cover more jobs. An early success came in 1923 with the War Classification Act, which established a uniform salary for each specified grade and class of work in the Federal Civil Service.
